NHS Risk Report

Dear Hazel Blears MP,

As you will recall from my previous letters, I am worried about the government's NHS changes and I have previously written to you about the Department of Health report on the risks that show the damage that these changes could cause.  So far this report has been withheld and, although I understand the reasons why the government is refusing to release the risk report, these reasons are a deliberate affront to the intelligence and ability of the general public to put what is written into the correct context.  If the context is misrepresented the government should be put in a position to explain this.  They should not be in the position to pretend that they do not have to explain it.

Please vote on Wednesday to release the risk report so that we know the true risks of the NHS plans.

Yours sincerely

Compassion in World Farming - UK finally compliant on cage ban

It's been ten years coming, but this is fantastic news for anyone in the UK who just doesn't feel comfortable knowing that some people are quite happy that their eggs come from a hen that spends its entire life living in a tiny, barren cage, eating heavily processed feed, drinking antibiotics, and producing bland tasting eggs.

Those of you who don't care, it's tough shit, you'll now have to spend 5p more on every egg you buy.  That surely doesn't sound a lot when those barn eggs only cost around 21p each.  But barn eggs are still pretty bad, with 10,000 or more chickens crammed together into a single darkened barn and fed with shit and drugs.  The only change there is the cage.

I promise you, free range, costing around 25p an egg, won't taste as much like bland piss, and will be better for you.

Organic eggs, costing 30p each, won't have any antibiotics and won't use highly processed feed, so they are even better for your health, and without the associated risk of developing more resistant bacterial strains that could wipe out the entire human race.  Or, at least, the humans who don't eat good food and so have low immune systems.  Karma is a bitch, but some people in developing countries don't have any choice in the matter.
